Many thanks to all those who have donated to Downwind. I've now used some of the funds to purchase an online chat system which is very similar to Facebook.
You may notice that in the left hand column there is now a list of members that are currently logged into Downwind. If you click on any of these names you can then type a message in a box, press enter and have that message appear on the other members screen. They can then type a message back to you. Voila! It's having a conversation via the keyboard.
This means that you can now "chat" live with a new pilot friend that you may have been wanting to catch up with after they've posted an interesting blog or forum post. It is important to note that this feature is only available to those people that login to Downwind.
You can also "take the phone off the hook" by clicking on the light-blue bar and selecting "away". This will mean that other people will not be able to contact you via the chat window.
Give it a go, make a new friend or pick the brains of a real aviation expert. Whatever it is the chat window is a new Downwind feature courtesy of the great donational support for the site. Many, many thanks to you all!
