CourchevelAirport in the French Alps is home to one of the shortest runways in the world with a length of only 525 metres, it's gradient of 18.5% is necessary in order to help slow landing aircraft. The apporach through deep valleys is dangerous and can only be performed by specially certified pilots. On landing there is no go-around procedure merely a very steep hill!
