Professional & Wannabe pilots 6 Months, 1 Week ago

Hi all
I've been curious for a while as to what percentage of professional pilots we've got on this site.
I know there are a few student pilots and RA/private pilots on here, but there also seems to be a decent percentage of CPL holders and people working towards their CPL, not to mention some very experienced commercial pilots.
So where are you at in your career? Are you studying (how far along are you?), are you in your first/forty seventh job? How many hours until you got to where you are now (if employed)? Want to add a little more about yourself?
Now to get the ball rolling.
I started reasonably late after a 10 year career in another industry, now I hold a CPL, NVFR and ATPL subjects and am working in my first commercial job, flying float planes.

Ive often wondered the same thing actually!
In brief..I'm a CPL with 2000+ hrs, Chief Pilot of an outback based Charter/Scenic GA company.
I got my CPL in Feb 09 and have been enjoying the GA life..flying a PA-60 Aerostar, C210s, C207s, GA-8 Airvans & mustering in C172s. Enjoy seeing fresh CPLs grow & develop within our company...

I got my CPL in 1986 and became CFI of a flying school. After 10 odd years in GA I got sick of the poor pay and long hours and moved into renewable energy. I never did stop commercial flying completely though, and have always worked part time as an instructor, now specialising in seaplanes. I hold a current CP approval for a seaplane operation.

I got my CPL in late 2009 and moved to Kununurra in WA last year. I now predominantly fly miners doing FIFO, and charter flights, and the odd scenic. In my 1000+ hours, commercially I've flown the C210, C207, C206 and GA8, and mostly fly the PA31 now.

Hi guys's:
Here's my ten cents,on the subject. Now semi retired, after flying RPT in heavies, now working part time, flying freight for a company subcontracted by Fedex,in B737's,and Airbus A300,310,320,330,and C130 Hercules, out of our major capitol cities, and internationally.Total hours 29000+,covering fixed, and rotary operations.Curently hold an Australian ATPL Fixed//CPL Rotary, with checking qualifications on above aircraft. Also hold the following:
US ATPL Fixed wing // CPL Rotary wing
Canadian ATPL Fixed wing // Cpl Rotary wing
NZ ATPL Fixed wing // CPL Rotary wing
South African CPL Fixed wing // CPL Rotary wing
I have flown in all the above countries (including Alaska),and some of the Middle Eastern areas,on charter,ferrying,instructing/checking and corporate work.
Aircraft flown :
Well,if you have been following my previous postings,You would have a fair idea, where I am at on this front. As most of you would be aware I am also involved in a family company operation, one branch of which is leasing out aircraft to operators in Australia,Nz,PNG,and South East Asia. Our fleet inventory at this point in time, is as follows:
Cessna 182
Cessna 185
Cessna 206
Cessna 210
Cessna 208 Caravan
Cessna CJ3 Citation
Cessna 337 (Actually called a Riley Super Skyrocket)
Piper Saratoga
Piper Chieftan
Piper Meridian
Beechcraft B58 Baron
Beechcraft G36 Bonanza
Pilatus PC6 Porter
GA8 Airvan
Aviat Husky
Aero Commander 500S
AS 350 B3 Squirell
Bell 206 Longranger
Hughes/MD 500E
Early next year,we are taking delivery of a factory "new" Augusta 109 twin engine IFR rated chopper.
We also operate/crew the following for their owners:
Learjet 55/60
Gulfsteam G6 Gulfstream
Citation CJ4
And soon to be joined early next year by an Embrear Phenom 300.
Thats the lot,from me.

Worked in the same industry as pahlot for 12 years and also a late starter.
CPL with NVFR and ME, currently completing the MECIR and pesky ATPLs i.e. still a baby with a lot to learn.
Got a job for me next season Pilotette?

Good stuff Pahlot, I've met someone like you at Watts Bridge one time, he had written a book of all the stuff he had done, with the BIGGG choppers and other huge aircraft.
I'm only an aviation baby, but have managed to fly -
Drifters - WB 503, WB582, SB582 models.
Jabirus - 120, 160, 200, 230 models.
Tecnams - P92S, and Echo
Savannah
Rans Courier
Pioneers - 200, 300
Lighwing 912S
Skyrider (95:10 ultralight)
Cessnas -170, 172, 182, TR182RG, 206
Piper Arrow
Pawnee
Puchacz two place glass glider (just recently went solo in this as a matter of fact)
Have had a play with R22, R44 choppers, but unfortunately haven't got the funds to support a license for rotary wing yet!
I've been blessed with many good friends that have leant me their keys, which is the reason for such a diverse range. I've only been flying for 3years, got my RAA certificate at 17.
I'm Plane crazy as they say.. and love every minute of it!
Only have a PPL (A) and RAA certificate at the moment, I have enough hours for the CPL apparently, but just need to work on the theory components... I'm a procrastinator when it comes to that!

I've flown Warriors, Archers, Arrows, Seminoles, Vulcan and a Liberty....all LOTS of fun!
I'm a private pilot and have no intentions of getting my CPL....although doing the theory would be interesting. I had a sponsorship to do my CPL earlier this year but I just ran out of time with my business ramping up. I really don't have any desire to become a CPL other than to learn more about aviation....like many of us on DownWind I've got the flying bug.
Cheers!
