Getting back to training after a six-month break 1 Year ago

So it's been a while since I last posted and my wedding is out of the way I can now get back to some flying with the blessing of my brand new wife! (she is definitely a keeper)

Was about to call into MFS soon but they called me first and I have booked in for a refresher tomorrow. I found out my instructor has moved on and have assigned to another. Should be interesting.

Would be interested to hear how people went with their first flight lesson after a long break. I am a little anxious that I am back to square one but also at the same time hoping it's like riding a bike.

Just got my gfpt late last year and went on a couple of solo's afterwards before I realized I need to break to prepare for my wedding. Are there any issues I should be aware of being gfpt and not current? What do I need to do to become current again? No doubt I will be asking my instructor tomorrow. And I realized my ASIC card has expired so I need one of those soon. But I basically have to reapply even though it's a renewal. WTF?

I am excited nonetheless I am back in the skies tomorrow.

I went back to flying after a couple of years break after buying a house and it wasn't that bad. Not like I had never left, but I quickly came back in to the swing of it.

ASICs are just a pain in the proverbial! When they first came around I was working at RAAF Amberley and had defence clearances that allowed me to walk up to an operational F111, but had to go through the full application to do the same to a 172. Go figure!

(Before anyone gets too excited, no I wasn't a pilot, just an engineer

I had to have a break myself, around the same time GFPT had just been achieved. Mine was a medical issue, also lost my Medical due this issue. Took longer to get my medical back than I thought! Anyway, it was rather scary after 6 months,I thought I would forget everything, but SHAZAM....... all came flooding back really quick. Just like rideing a bike or driving a car!

Im sure you will be just fine and will absolutely LOVE being in the air again!

I had a medically induced delay as well, cut my fingers open...

I had done two navs and my instructor had also moved on. I explained what had happened to the new guy, we did a slightly shorter nav to get back into the swing of things and then onward as normal. I found my approach and flare were the worst, and the new instructor had a different way of teaching which made it all the more difficult.

Got it fairly sorted now, you never stop learning though!
