I just noticed that it's been a little while since I posted last... oops, sorry.
I've had a few flights since, in fact, I've finished all of the prescribed briefs & lessons before my first flight test, the GFPT (General Flight Progress Test).
Since my last post I've had a brief on Short & Soft Field Takeoff & Landings, then was demonstrated them & then did a few for the instructor. He then sent me up solo to practise, then after another checkride, sent me up solo out in the training area to practise more forced landings, steep & limit turns (they're great fun).
I then had my briefing on Instrument Flight & then a few days back logged 2.3 hours, of which 1.8 hours were on instruments. That was sooooo cool!! Basically you wear a 'hood' which is a big plastic brim that prevents you from seeing out the windscreen (don't worry too much, the instructor is looking for traffic etc). Instrument flying really took it out of me though. I felt find after it, but then later that afternoon I was really tired, really really tired.
Today I had my final briefing, on precautionary search. I flew an hour or so of solo circuits to practise my landings (focusing on touching down right on the centerline - a weak point of my landings) & then flew the lesson on the precautionary search after that.
I've got my pre-gfpt work to do on Wednesday, which consists of a theory checkup & then flying to assess whether I'm ready for the test. I will keep you posted.
