Hi all unfortunately my path to a PPL has been cut short. Due to a previous health issue I have failed to pass my Class 2 medical. I am gutted. Flying was just one of those things that I really wanted to pursue but a heart attack a few years ago has taken this away from me. On the upside, now I think I have the option of going for a RA-Aus Pilot Certificate... Am I correct? I want to eventually able to fly myself and a mate for fun. Will this type of licence allow me to do this? Alex

Sorry to hear about the issues getting your medical. If you hold a drivers license then you can fly in RA. The overall training is similar to PPL, however it's broken up in to various phases or endorsements. There's the basic training, then you'll need to add a passenger endorsement and a cross country endorsement if you want to fly away from the airfield. RA allows you to fly with one passenger if you have the passenger endorsement. It's definitely worth pursuing!
Good luck!
