Like everything on Downwind the resources areas are growing as members contribute to the growing knowledge base of pilot information. At the moment there are four resource areas, they are:
Article Archive This is an archive of all of the articles that have been written on Downwind. This some really interesting and fun stuff in there that you may want to take a look at.
Airfields This is where you can add information about your own home airfield to assist other pilots in landing and enjoying your particular neck of the woods. There’s nothing like local knowledge to really help you out when you arrive at a strange airfield in the middle of nowhere. You can also get Googleearth maps of the airfield, hotel and taxi information plus a host of other details which are great to fun flyaways.
Aviation Directory The aviation directory will eventually contain a categorised list of every Australian Aviation organisation in the country. Anyone can add an entry and businesses can also upgrade their listings to help raise their profile and attract the attention of the pilot community.
I’ve also added the ability for members to be able to review a business and provide genuine feedback (both positive and negative) to help other members in their decision to do business with a particular listing. My dream is that good companies will flourish and bad ones will be washed out by the weight of pilot experiences that are made in this public manner.
Aviation Links This is a list of useful aviation links that I’ve discovered while surfing the Internet. I’m thinking about dropping this area and incorporating it into the larger Aviation Directory.
